Other beaches of the northwestern coast
Northwards to Kini and the neighboring beach of Delfini there are several remote beaches at the western coast. The common feature of all of them is that no vehicle access is available; for this reason they all of them are secluded and receive only a few people.
Going northwards from Delfini you will find the beaches of Varvaroussa, Aetos, Lia, Marmari, Grammata and the tinier ones Megas Lakkos and Avlaki.
Of course none of them is organized; no umbrellas, no taverns, only the sea and the sun. They are the ideal place for solitary swimmers and for those wishing to relax in an atmosphere of calmness and discretion. At the nice sandy beach of Varvaroussa, may be you will find some sailing boats stopping here for a while. At Grammata you may meet a few free campers; once there don’t miss to see the ancient inscriptions carved on the rocks, dated in the Roman and Byzantine times, possibly written by castaway people who were saved and found shelter at this well protected cove.
Access to these beaches is possible by excursion boats departing from Kini, or by rented or private yacht. If you like walking and you are fit enough, you may reach them following the suitable footpath from Delfini or from Ano Meria.
