Foinikas is a beautiful coastal summer resort surrounding the beach of the homonymous bay. It is situated at a distance of some 11 kilometers southwestern to Hermoupolis. The settlement is successive to that of Poseidonia and counts some 650 permanent residents, in their majority occupied in tourism. The settlement has a small port, safe shelter for small caiques, fishing and tourist boats.
The village offers several alternatives for accommodation and other facilities to those who choose this place for spending their holidays. There are also several taverns and cafés, at the sea front or in short distance from the sea, which attract many people who come here to enjoy the gorgeous food and the view they offer.
For swimming you may choose either the lovely sandy beach in front of the settlement, or the near by beaches of Kokkina (meaning “red” in Greek) and Psachno (meaning … “lean” in Greek).
If you are around by the end of July it is worth attending the local religious feast (“panughyri”) taking place on the 27th of July, in honor of Aghios Panteleimonas.
In case of emergence you may address to the corresponding services of Hermoupolis, some 11 kilometers far away to the Northeast. For health problems a local Medical Center is available in the village.
Access to the settlement is very easy by public buses running frequently, by taxi and by private means (car or motorbikes). If you reach the place by boat or yacht, the small port of the village is available for mooring.
