is situated at the northern part of the island, in an uninhabited area, just after the beaches of Aghios Georgios and Lygaria.
The beach is open to the northern and western winds and you will not find trees at all. Of course, if you decide to choose this beach for swimming, you have to bring along at least water.
In case of emergence you have to return back to Chora.
Access to the beach is possible by rented or private boat, provided the wind allows you to reach it. You may also come here on foot from Ano Meria. You will follow the path departing from the church of Chryssopigi. After you have walked for some 20 minutes, you will arrive at the point where the path is diverged in two. You will follow the right one and continue on a difficult path for some half an hour until reaching the sea.
After all this you may wonder, “Why to choose this beach?” The answer is that here the sea is deep, very clean and you will certainly be alone with your company. If these reasons are not sufficient for you, it is better to choose another beach, less…adventurous.
( meaning “tree” in Greek) is found at the most northern part of the western coast of Folegandros, within a small cove. It is situated in a secluded area without any residents and it is probably the most remote beach of the island. It owes its name to a big tamarisk tree, the only one at the beach, that overlooks the rocks and its rims almost touch the sea.
The beach is affected by the northern and western winds, but it is pretty secluded and quiet, with nice sea. If you feel like nudist, the beach is quite suitable, as you will probably be alone, with the company of some sea birds only! From the description of the beach, you can understand that no facilities are offered here. So, don’t forget to bring along water and all necessary provisions, and also your umbrella, as the shade of the tamarisk tree is not sufficient in the hot summer days.
In case of emergence you have to return to Chora.
Access to the beach from the sea is possible only by private or rented boat or yacht. You can reach the beach on foot from Ano Meria, following the path that starts at the small church of Chrysopighi. You will follow this path for one hour and then, at the middle of your total route, you will turn right to the difficult path that leads to the beach.
